Welcome to the Blackboard e-Education platform,—designed to enable educational innovations everywhere by connecting people and technology.
As we approach the mid-point of the academic year I really hope you are enjoying your course and making good progress on your studies.
It is important you feel you know how you are doing and are clear what your targets are and I encourage you to make sure you attend tutorials and use pro portal.
As you will know our study programme is called the Passport to Employment which is aimed to ensure there are lots of ways in which we are actively preparing you for and helping you secure positive outcomes after your course.
The Passport is important and demonstrates your commitment to developing all the skills that employers want and in order to graduate you do need to have demonstrated commitment to achieving all the areas of the Passport identified on pro portal.
You will have been doing this in many ways already:-
It is so important that we work with you to develop these wider skills and help you secure positive steps in your career and impress those employers.
One area that employers are very clear about is English and Maths and how important they are in many ways, so again I urge you to work hard in these subjects as they are such a key element of your study programme and so important in life generally.
We can help you improve your grades and as a college we are expected to do this with you.
It was great recently to attend the student of the term event and recognise so much effort and achievement across the college – well done to you all.
We continue to work closely with the Student Association and it is important that we listen and respond to the student voice and I am pleased to see that virtually all issues raised we have responded to.
We are a community and we will come down hard on those who show poor behaviour which affects others and have continued to do this all year. We will not let the small minority disrupt learning. We have high expectations of you regarding your attendance and behaviour and that you work hard to make the best progress you can with our support.
I wish you continued good progress in your studies and for the rest of the academic year and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the end of year graduation ceremonies where we can celebrate your success with your friends and family and achievement of your qualification and Passport to Employment.
Northumberland College would like to wish all of our students a very Happy Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in 2017.
At the College, we recognise that the Christmas and New Year period is not always a happy or good time for some people. If you feel that you need someone to talk to we have provided some numbers and links that may be helpful.
